I mean, it would be like adding a Sovereign class in the "Battle of the Binary Stars" in STD's season1. One of the most glaring errors from "Blood and Chrome" is to include this starship design as part of the Ghost Fleet because it makes no sense. (TRS: "Hero", "The Plan").
Coming from the Cylon War, it is presumed that, at least in their original design configuration, ships of this class lacked the advanced computer technology and networking of more modern battlestars for fear of Cylon infiltration. Physically, it was far more "jagged" than other battlestar classes, with sharp edges offset by curved lines. Ships of the Valkyrie type have four sublight engines attached to the ventral side of the ship at the rear. It played a crucial role in eliminating the Cylon's edge, and turning the favor of the war to the Colonials. The vulnerable FTL drive on the ventral hull suggest that the Valkyrie type was intended for a defensive role with other battlestars and Vipers protecting it, as offensive roles would risk destruction of its FTL drive. The tubes are also significantly longer than those of other battlestars.
Approximately ten years into the first Cylon War, Valkyrie was involved in a battle with Cylons near Canceron Prime, in which the ship took major damage, and was presumed destroyed. Valkyrie is later destroyed by Cylon forces in an act of subterfuge during the Fall of Caprica. The computer systems on the Valkyrie type were presumably non-networked in the early years of service. In the days and years following the incident at the Armistice Line, and in particular after the Cylon attack on the Colonies, Adama came to believe that his actions had provoked the Cylon assault, having proven to them that humanity was aggressive and not to be trusted (TRS: "Hero").
