I give props to this pad. See my reviews of two other three-season air mats I like, the Therm-A-Rest NeoAir XLite and the Exped SynMat UL 7 air mattress—and an item I never sleep outside without, my Cocoon Ultralight AirCore Pillow. As a side note, it comes with a patch kit integrated in the stuff sack. Pros: Ultra-comfy. Campers with synthetic sleeping bags may fair better, but those with summer weight down bags like mine should think twice.
Not as comfy as some out there though. We've had ours for 5 years now, and not had either one puncture or leak. This degrades the material from the inside out, and you get leaks.
No leaks or any other problems. I have to say, this was an expensive pad and although it is very comfortable, I’ll probably try different brands at lower prices in the future.
If the temps. I'm glad I did. Insulated Air Mattress Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SL $140, 1 lb. This kills the Therm-a-Rest pads in packability and is just as comfortable.
Sleeping bags are made to insulate us from the cold air around us.

I contacted the company and they said send it on in. If you have tried out closed cell pads and even lighter pads such as the NeoAir and don’t find them comfortable then I would suggest this pad. But that is dependant upon the circumstances in which you use it. If that doesnt work, what I would do is find a cap that fits your valve, most cheap air mattress inflators have them (coleman etc) and see if you can jerry-rig it onto the end of the NeoAir inflator, which shouldnt be too hard, since it has a big flared rubber attachment on the end. Repeat until pad has reached desired inflation. Now fold the top half back on itself creating a “z” shape on one half. It inflates fairly easily. Very very peaceful. Thanks for the review, Kim! Went from a Therm-a-Rest 3/4 Ultralite to this, and believe me, I don't quibble about the extra weight. In the competition to make backcountry air mattresses lighter, more compact, and more comfortable, the Insulated Q-Core SL has raised the bar. But that is my opinion, you can give this pad a shot if you want!

It's long enough and my brother (6'2") wished he had bought the regular instead of long. Its comfortable, if you like the pad firm then you can easily inflate it to a point where it is firm.
Do you only want one pad so you don’t have to switch. It's compact, durable, comfortable and it didn't break the bank. The redesigned Air Core Ultra is a smooth and stable sleeping surface, easier and faster to inflate/deflate, warmer, tougher, lighter, and more packable than its award winning predecessor. I have two of these.
AND It IS wonderfully insulated, unlike my therm-a-rest self-inflating open celled one. The pad I initially bought was the Big Agnes Insulated Air Core.
Certainly much smaller than a self-inflating or foam pad.

The mix of my background and love for hiking lead me start writing about my experiences. Inflating the pad is pretty easy, once you get the hang of how the valve works. You nestle right into it and this doesn't affect the insulation properties at all. But the biggest downside is that the Q-Core SL creaks loudly when you shift around on it, which some tent mates won’t appreciate.

This would easily be used for all 3 season trips and I would even use this pad in the winter assuming it isn’t getting below 0 degrees F. You sacrifice some weight by going with the higher R value but it gives you more flexibility if you don’t want to own a bunch of pads. But the biggest downside is that the Q-Core SL creaks loudly when you shift around on it, which some tent mates won’t appreciate. Totally worth it and highly recommended. A lot of times people complain of a sleeping bag not being good enough, but the problem is really the sleeping PAD used, not the bag. And the light weight and small packing are great ... but if you have to carry a closed cell pad to stay warm, you're giving back the weight and small packing advantage.
But the rubber-band-n-bag trick might still work! The pad also comes with a stuff sack and repair kit. I have slid off the pad occasionally, if it was over inflated or especially when the tent was on less than perfectly level ground.
Admittedly these bags rely on a warm pad.
Price Paid: $116.95, crjdirt Big Agnes has a compression sack/pump thing but it's not compatible with the Double Z. Sure, it takes a few minutes to blow up, but so what? It also compresses down smaller than a loaf of bread. Comfort on these is every bit as good as their billing. Durability may be a problem. This pad sleeps COLD. It keeps me warmer than other pads that I've tried, even on snow or frozen ground.
Then I got it replaced for free (great customer service at BA!!!! Now this isn’t the highest R value, it is still high. The nozzle would be attached TO the pumpsack, and you would insert it into the valve on your Double Z.

Anyway, beside the pad being a few inches too long, it's worked great. Other hikers I know who own one all rant and rave about how comfortable it is.

We use them for both car camping and backpacking. Used it into the teens and was fine - no cold spots.

The Q-Core is much nicer. Big Agnes Insulated Q-Core SL I have lightened my pack considerably in recent years, but this is one item that is worth lugging around.

This is also very important. With that setup and the pad inside my bag to reduce air pockets in the bag, I stay wicked toasty.
