The beauty of hiking in Capitol Reef National Park, aside from the sweeping vistas, seemingly endless landscape, and limitless sky and desert rock, is that because it’s a little more out of the way than Zion, Bryce, Canyonlands and Arches, it’s less crowded. While starting at the parking area off the Scenic Drive, this easy, level trail is welcoming for hikers of all levels. Take the brief trail up the red rocks and you will find yourself looking over Sulfur Creek Canyon. Nearby, you can also find the original Fruita Schoolhouse and visit the museum for displays on the Mormon travelers. You must either drive the Grand Wash Road or hike nearly the entire Grand Wash Trail in order to reach this trailhead. The campgrounds is nice and clean and quiet.
You can see the whole park in half a day if you don't go. You will want to plan a minimum of 3 hours to experience this beautiful hike. It's a colorful place, as it's lush and green with trees, surrounded with rich, red rocks. If you have a high-clearance vehicle, you’ll be able to access more of the park.
I’ll say it once more time, bring water with you if you plan to spend multiple days in Capitol Reef.

Burr Trail Road from Boulder (near Dixie National Forest) is a visitor favorite and leads to some stunning canyons in the southern end of Capitol Reef. Cherries, apricots, peaches, apples, and cherries can all be harvested throughout the year. The only accommodation option within the Capitol Reef boundaries is camping.
