In this paper, we provide a detailed field-based description of the architecture of the Median Tectonic Line (MTL) fault zone, SW Japan, at a newly exposed outcrop (the Awano-Tabiki outcrop), and we discuss whether the architecture, as described, is suitable for understanding the behaviour of the fault zone at different crustal conditions.
