I was so happy to see flowers blooming (although I didn’t know what they were at the time) and we were very excited to find a Cristate Saguaro. The biotic communities (starting from the lowest elevation) include desert scrub, desert grassland, oak woodland, pine-oak woodland, pine forest and mixed conifer forest. It’s an easy drive and there are plenty of pullouts where you can snap photos. They are supposed to be pretty rare!
