Wings and tail are chestnut-brown. Swift, direct flight. Not exactly outgoing . Weak fluttering flight on shallow wing beats. Head has a slate-gray hood and bold white eye-ring. Tail is dark. Swift and direct flight with rapid wing beats low under the canopy. European Golden-Plover: Largest of the golden plovers, showing black crown, throat, neck and upperparts with small bright gold spotting.
