Despite recent interest by event managers in developing strategies to encourage attendees’ environmentally responsible behaviours, this task is still a challenge because attendees may be disinterested in behaving pro-environmentally in the music festival context. Two case studies describe ways in which visitors articulate change they have experienced.
Festivals add color to the life. Our objectives are to: find if Romanian people in general, and Romanian tourists, in particular, are interested in traveling with the purpose of attending a festival, identify the main motivations for attending a festival, the types of festivals that are preferred and the tourists ‘perception on Bucharest as potential international festival destination.The paper concludes that Romanian tourists tend to participate in one festival per year in average in their country and less than one festival per year in another countries, that music festival is the most appreciated type of festival and also we discovered that the most important motives for attending festivals in tourists’ perception are psychological, cultural and emotional.

The study reported here used a conceptual framework developed to describe regional tourism development to explore 36 case studies describing festivals and events in a regional development context. An associated issue of great concern is the effects that immigrants have on national identity. We conclude that when people participate in traditional religious festivals such as the ones under consideration, they gain authentic experiences, which strengthens their sense of traditional religious festival identity and place attachment; as a result, they are more likely to support tourism development.
