I've always said if I could pick my century, I'd live in the 1800's - a time of exploration and invention -- before the world became artificial and polluted, and before the Native American nations became mostly a memory . You may as well read the book along with a companion atlas of the US showing the Missouri River and Rocky Mountains. While the songs are well matched to the events they're associated with in the film, the album easily stands on its own without benefit of words or pictures.
